Blair attended the event and baited Chuck into a kiss. But she was furious that he went after her again and insisted that he hadn't changed. Now Blair is more convinced than ever that Louis is the man for her. But Chuck revealed that he wanted to push Blair away to set her free, which is why he kissed her.

Diana managed to manipulate several people to try and achieve her goals. She absolutely refuses to share Charlie with Nate, so when Charlie's (aka Ivy's) old friend Max arrived in town she found the perfect opportunity. She set up Max and Serena to become friends, but when Charlie wanted to escape with Max, he expressed interest in Serena instead. The encounter between Charlie and Max convinced Nate that he has no chance with her, leaving him with Diana exclusively, and leaving Charlie without a job. Meanwhile Gossip Girl - Season 5, Episode 8 - All the Pretty Sources, Diana is determined to take Gossip Girl down by replacing her with Serena. Serena was still hesitant to assume the role of gossip blogger for Diana, but she changed her mind at the end. Finally, Dan ran away from his book tour when he was no longer as popular as he had been.
